hello
I'm Jenn Yuen!
Since childhood, I have had a passion for the evolution of relationships. How they form, grow, and sometimes rupture has always been a fascination that I have carried through my personal life and professional career.
For me, relationships are fundamental to our journey as human beings, whether that be relationships with our friends, intimate partners, family members, or work colleagues.
This strong pull towards the understanding of relationships guide my practice and help others learn to cherish the ups and downs of our ever-changing interpersonal connections.

My core approach is rooted in mindfulness practice, which includes somatic work with the body to anchor the mind and the heart in the present moment with warmth and compassion.

connection
In my professional practice, I work with my clients to help them find the connection and belonging we often feel is missing in our day-to-day lives. I work with clients who may be searching to feel loved, valued, and securely attached to the important relationships in their lives. As a licensed psychotherapist with over 15-years of clinical experience, I work hard to create a safer space for sharing, healing, learning, and understanding.
I care deeply about my clients and their growth and personal development as individuals. I work collaboratively with my clients to address the root causes of their struggles and challenges and work to integrate strategies, tools, and techniques so they can reach their full potential.
Areas of expertise include:
Trauma - Depression - Anxiety
Grief and Loss - Relationships - 2SLGBTQ+
Life Transitions - Personal Growth - Sex Therapy
compassion
Through my advanced professional training, I am qualified to help support sexual violence trauma and job-related trauma for first responders. I work with individuals and couples to help open the doors of communications through intimacy and sex therapy.
As a lifelong learner, I continue to advance my clinical practice in several specialized counseling fields, including suicide prevention and postvention, on-call crisis response consultant, online sexual harassment and bullying trauma, and pandemic wellness.
As a child, I quickly learned the impact that one individual can make on the trajectory of another person's life.
In grade school, a librarian invested her time in me to help foster a sense of personal connection and learning. This relationship, while brief, has had a profound impact on my life. This care and attention paid by my school librarian inspired me to help others find their creativity and human connection through empathy, learning, and courage. As a Registered Social Worker and a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, I continue to honour her impact on my life by helping to mentor and teach others. I began leading sessional lectures at the University of Waterloo in 2018, and in 2020, I was honoured to join the Wilfrid Laurier University teaching faculty.
